Here's What to Do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite

February 23, 2017

We are making our way through the last several weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during cold nights. Nothing is worse than going to bed at night and realizing your furnace won’t turn on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are some things you can check yourself prior to calling Calverley Service Experts.

Check Air Filters

You should replace standard air filters monthly. If you do not, they can become clogged, blocking air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.

Check Your Thermostat

Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, verify the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”

Check the Power

It may seem silly, but confirm the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so confirm the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently flipped to the “Off” position.

If you check all these things and your furnace will still not turn on, give Calverley Service Experts a call at 817-380-5647 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
