Here's What to Do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite

February 23, 2017

We are trudging through the last few weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during cold nights. Not much is worse than going to bed at night just to realize your furnace won’t turn on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are a few things you can check yourself prior to calling Calverley Service Experts.

Check Air Filters

You should change standard air filters monthly. If you do not, they can become clogged, blocking air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.

Check Your Thermostat

Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, verify the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”

Check the Power

It may seem silly, but make sure the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so confirm the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently flipped to the “Off” position.

If you check all these things and your heating system will still not kick on, give Calverley Service Experts a call at 817-380-5647 and we’ll come out and take care of you as soon as possible.
