Spring may have sprung but in Fort Worth it’s not all warm and cozy outside. Your furnace has been going for months trying to keep you and your family comfortable, so now is the time to make sure you’re giving your furnace some TLC. If you hear funny noises or the heating system has stopped operating, you may be in need of a furnace repair. If you notice a severe gas smell, you almost surely need furnace repair work and you should call Calverley Service Experts straightaway.

Before you assume that you need a furnace repair technician, review these tips from Calverley Service Experts.

  • Make sure your thermostat is switched to “heat.”

It may sound obvious, but we get busy and life happens, so sometimes it’s easy to miss the simple fixes. Neglecting to switch over the thermostat can make you believe you need furnace repair when really you can remedy the problem with a literal flip of the switch!

  • Check your furnace switch.

Since we’re talking about switches, make sure your furnace switch is in the up, or “on” position. As before, an easy miss, especially when you remember this switch isn’t one you might look at regularly. Most systems have built-in delays so make sure when you turn on your furnace you give it a few minutes to get going before panicking about contacting our furnace repair man.

  • Change your furnace air filter.

You should replace your home’s air filters no less than every three months to help your furnace run more efficiently and put off any furnace repair work. A filthy air filter is one of the most recurrent reasons for decreased performance in furnaces, and they can also be a breeding ground for bacteria and cause you and your loved ones to become sick. Swap your filter to keep both your furnace and your loved ones healthy.

  • Check the circuit breaker.

Check your circuit breaker panel to see if the breaker that controls your furnace is in the middle position or the “off” position. If the breaker has ended up in the middle position, cycle the breaker to “off” and then reset it to the “on” position.

Furnace repairs get to be expensive, so avoid a future issue altogether with seasonal maintenance from Calverley Service Experts. However, if you are needing furnace repair, we are available 24/7/365 to help you with all your heating needs.
