We previously told you about a few of the most common air conditioning problems Fort Worth faces, but now we’re back with some common AC problems that you can help troubleshoot.
The A/C is on but not blowing cool air.
If your A/C system is running but not actually cooling, you could need to have your refrigerant levels checked. Refrigerant is necessary to make sure the air being released from the system is truly cool and keeps your family comfortable. Low refrigerant is frequently an indicator of a leak or that the system wasn’t charged correctly.
A simple way to see if you are low on refrigerant is to go out to your air conditioning system and find the two copper pipes. If the bigger pipe is “sweating” or covered in condensation, touch the pipe to feel if it’s cold. If it feels cold, you are likely good to go and do not need more refrigerant.
If you’re unsure or the pipe is not covered in condensation and is not cold when you place your hand on it, call Calverley Service Experts and we’ll pay you a visit and confirm your refrigerant levels and learn why your system is not blowing cool air. Remember, only an EPA Certified technician should work on refrigerant for central A/C systems, due to the dangers of handling this potentially dangerous chemical.
You air condenser fan isn’t spinning.
There are several reasons your condenser fan may not be circulating. One could be that it merely burned out and you need a replacement. Humidity generally causes more condensation so another issue could be that the water is not draining right or that the drain is hindered. If you can verify these things, you may be able to discover the problem; but, if not, give Calverley Service Experts a call and we can determine what is preventing your condenser fan from turning and walk you through your options to get your A/C system problem fixed.
Your air conditioner is not providing sufficient air cooling.
The first step is to try decreasing the temperature on your thermostat. It seems ridiculous but sometimes we tend to overlook the obvious. If lowering the thermostat doesn’t get your system working right, check and replace the air filter. If the air filter is blocked, it could cause serious cooling troubles. Another problem that could be causing your lack of cooling is an air conditioner that is not sized accurately, and unfortunately this is a frequent issue when homes are designed. Calverley Service Experts is happy to come out and do an analysis to determine if the size of your A/C system is causing your troubles.
A/C system shuts on and off repeatedly
If your air conditioner is short cycling, or turning on or off constantly, it could mean one of multiple things. One option is that your condenser or evaporator is clogged or dirty and in need of cleaning. Once the system is cleaned and all clogs moved elsewhere, you may be back to a regular running system. Note that humidity also plays a role so if the home cools to the desired temperatures, but then the humidity causes the house to heat up quickly, this could cause an on-again, off-again system because it’s having to work vigorously to keep your home cool and comfortable.
No matter your problem, whatever usual or unusual A/C problem you run into, Calverley Service Experts is here for you all day, everyday. We are available to you so we can get your AC system cooling and get your home comfortable quickly.
