On July 7th, 2016, a peaceful Black Lives Matter-organized protest was coming to an end when shots rang out in Dallas. Chaos ensued and by the end of the night, nine Dallas police officers were injured and five lost their lives.
Within a week, Dallas business owners and community leaders joined forces to raise money for the police officers and their relatives. Dos Jefes, a local bistro, hosted “Dine for Dallas Blue” and all of the money raised from the dinner and silent auction they put on were given to the fallen and injured officers and their families.
Calverley Service Experts General Manager Tony Polendo was more than honored to join the cause.
“I was celebrating my birthday dinner only blocks away from the events of that horrible evening,” Polendo remembered. “That night struck home with me. As a military veteran, I have absolute respect for any person who wears a uniform in an endeavor to protect and serve the community.”
“When my associate called to see if we would support this charity event by merely attending, I wanted to show our support to not only attend, but donate our time and effort as well.”
Tony and the Calverley Service Experts team coordinated with Lennox to auction off a new heating and air conditioning system with complimentary installation at the Dine for Dallas Blue event. Take a look at the pictures of the installation.
“I am both grateful and appreciative for the chance to have participated in such a wonderful event,” Polendo said.
From your friends at Calverley Service Experts, we are truly sorry for the loss of the Dallas Police Department and for the loved ones of Lorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael J. Smith, Brent Thompson, and Patrick Zamarripa.
