Here’s What to Do When Your Furnace Won’t Ignite

We are trudging through the last several weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during frigid nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than laying down at night and realizing your furnace won’t turn on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are a couple things you can check yourself before your call Stevenson Service Experts.

Check Air Filters

You should replace standard air filters every 30 days. If you fail to do so, they can end up clogged, restricting air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.

Check Your Thermostat

Start by turning the thermostat up a few degrees to get the furnace to turn on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”

Check the Power

It may seem ridiculous, but confirm the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas heating systems use electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch was not accidently moved to the “Off” position.

If you check all these things and your furnace will still not start up, give Stevenson Service Experts a call at 614-334-3192 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
